Inspiring Rohingya Youth Through Sports

Fostering Confidence, Leadership & Unity in Rohingya Communities Through Football and Physical Activities

Why Sports Matter

For many Rohingya youth, sports provide more than just physical activity—they offer emotional release, a sense of belonging, and the foundations of leadership. Through football, REDS helps children cope with trauma, build self-confidence, and connect with peers in a safe and structured environment. Sports become a path to healing, growth, and empowerment.

On the field, youth discover their voice, set goals, and learn to overcome obstacles—skills that translate far beyond the game.

Structured sports activities offer a safe, judgment-free environment where young people can process emotions, rebuild trust, and find joy.

Our Achievements

Since 2021, REDS has impacted over 🔢 200 Rohingya youth through structured football programs that nurture both body and mind. With ⚽ 10 active school teams participating in weekly games, we’re creating consistent opportunities for teamwork, discipline, and joy. These numbers reflect more than participation—they represent lives being shaped by mentorship, leadership, and a sense of belonging both on and off the field.

Our Training Grounds

In the heart of the refugee camps, where resources are scarce, passion and community spirit pave the way. With limited access to proper sports facilities, REDS began by turning unused dusty grounds into functional football spaces. These training areas have become safe havens where children develop discipline, teamwork, and dreams. Our mission now includes improving these makeshift fields into lasting sports infrastructure—places where youth can play, grow, and thrive with dignity.

Coach and Mentor Program

Behind every confident player is a mentor who believes in them. At REDS, trained coaches—including national-level athletes—go beyond drills and game rules. They shape character, build confidence, and serve as positive role models for Rohingya youth. Through weekly sports sessions, volunteer mentors also play a vital role, offering guidance, encouragement, and a safe space for young minds to grow—on the field and beyond.

Sports and Education Connection

REDS encourages students to balance sports with academic performance. Our “Play to Learn” model ensures that participation in sports is directly tied to regular school attendance and academic achievement, motivating students to excel both on the field and in the classroom.

Challenges We Face

Our young players face tough realities every day. With barely any equipment, makeshift fields, and constant interruptions from camp life, they still show up—barefoot and smiling. At REDS, we believe they deserve better. Your support can help us provide proper sportswear, weather-proof training sessions, and structured teams that give Rohingya youth a safe and empowering outlet.
