Our vision

At the Rohingya Education Development Society (REDS), we envision a world where every Rohingya child—regardless of their origin, displacement, or socio-political challenges—has unrestricted and equitable access to quality education. We believe that education is not a luxury for the privileged, but a basic human right that every child deserves, regardless of their status or circumstance.

Our vision is rooted in the belief that education has the power to break the vicious cycle of poverty, marginalization, and generational injustice that has historically plagued the Rohingya community. We aim to transform lives by equipping young minds with the tools, knowledge, and confidence needed to rise above the barriers of refugee life, persecution, and statelessness.

We are committed to empowering a new generation of Rohingya youth who will not only become scholars and professionals but also changemakers and leaders of tomorrow. By fostering a culture of learning, critical thinking, and resilience, we hope to create a community that thrives on dignity, self-reliance, and hope.

Through sustained educational support, digital learning opportunities, mentorship, and advocacy, REDS aspires to nurture the untapped potential within every Rohingya child—helping them turn dreams into achievable goals. Our ultimate goal is a future where no Rohingya child is left behind, and where education becomes the beacon of light guiding our people toward justice, identity, and lasting peace.

Who we are

The Rohingya Education Development Society (REDS) is a non-governmental and non-political organization founded on November 5, 2014, in Malaysia by a group of displaced Rohingya students from Arakan, Burma. Born out of hardship and the relentless pursuit of education, REDS was established by individuals who experienced life in refugee camps and understood firsthand the challenges faced by their community.

Despite facing extreme poverty, political oppression, and limited access to education, these students came together with a shared vision: to uplift their community through learning. Today, REDS stands as a symbol of resilience and hope, dedicated to breaking the cycle of educational disadvantage.

We are committed to providing scholarships for Rohingya youth, raising educational awareness through media, and empowering future generations to dream beyond the barriers of displacement. At REDS, we believe that education is not a privilege—but a fundamental right for every Rohingya child.

Structure of REDS

This organizational chart presents a clear and straightforward hierarchical structure for an organization, moving from top-level leadership down to the broader membership.

  • Founder: At the apex of the structure is the “Founder.” This individual or role represents the ultimate authority and visionary leadership from which the organization originated.
  • Co-Founders: Directly beneath the Founder are two “Co-Founders.” They share leadership responsibilities, likely working in close collaboration with the Founder and overseeing key operational aspects of the organization. Their position indicates shared authority and direct reporting lines from the top.
  • Committee Members: Below the Co-Founders, there are six distinct “Committee Members.” These individuals are likely responsible for managing specific functions, projects, or departments within the organization. Their arrangement suggests a collaborative team environment, while the lines connecting them to the Co-Founders indicate reporting or accountability.
  • General Members: Forming the base of the structure are the “General Members.” This large group represents the broader community, volunteers, or beneficiaries of the organization. The connections from the Committee Members to the General Members indicate that the committees oversee or serve the wider membership, and the General Members form the foundational support and participant base of the organization.

Overall, this structure depicts a clear chain of command with distinct levels of responsibility, while also implying areas of collaboration, particularly among the committee members. It’s a foundational model often seen in non-profit, community-based, or newly established organizations.
